Unfortunately, we didn’t get the experience we were hoping for. We visited in early October on a warm, sunny day and had a tour booked for 9 AM. The waiting area was confusing, and nothing was clearly explained—partly because our tour had been postponed without our knowledge. We asked several guides for help, but no one was particularly polite or helpful. Eventually, we learned the tour had been delayed, and the only notice was sent by email. As tourists without Wi-Fi, we had no way of knowing. The postponement was due to warm weather causing our cave to flood, which is understandable and beyond their control. Still, the delay ended up being about four hours. When we finally started the tour, we were taken to “Site B,” which was not a cave at all but more like a dirt opening in the ice. It wasn’t worth the long wait or the cost. They do mention when booking that “caves might not be blue certain times of the year,” but this wasn’t even close. Overall, we were very disappointed and wish the tour had just been canceled altogether.
We had an incredible time with our guide David! He was so friendly and show us an incredible cave and other beautiful places.

The Crystal Blue Ice Cave Tour was absolutely stunning. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly — he shared lots of interesting information about the glacier, the ice formation, and Icelandic nature along the way. Everything was well organized. Highly recommended!
