Te & Kaffi is one of the best places for a delicious coffee in Iceland

If you long for high-quality coffee, loved by the locals, and respected for all-around sustainability, Te & Kaffi is your place.  A well-known family business boasting an organic production certificate, Te & Kaffi consists of cozy cafés downtown Reykjavik and freshly packed coffee products – capsules, pods, beans, and ground coffee – in major grocery stores around Iceland

You‘ll find plenty of delicious specialty drinks on the menu in their cafés, from matches to frappes, from decafs to cold foams, and the pastries are always soft and fresh.

Te & Kaffi is Iceland‘s favorite coffee brand, according to surveys, renowned for offering friendly service with international flair.

There's a great selection of teas at Te og Kaffi

Along with espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and other classics, they offer a variety of exciting warm and cold drinks on our lively menu. To stir things up, they also have a seasonal selection of specialty drinks, with fresh, fun options for the summer and rich, spiced drinks for the fall – Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte, anyone? – and delicious, candy-themed ones around Easter

The Christmas selection is truly something else. Throughout the happy holiday season, you can enjoy rich, creative winter drinks with names straight from Icelandic folklore, such as Grýla and Leppalúði – who, of course, are the parents of our 13 rambunctious Yule Lads!

There are also various tea-based drink options, and for matcha lovers, we must recommend the mint matcha latte, although it‘s impossible to pick just one.

There are plenty of pastries, cakes, and more to enjoy at Te og Kaffi

The Te & Kaffi cafés are both quality coffee havens and popular hang-outs. They have a great fan base, and curious customers come in from the street and blend in with the regulars who typically live in the neighborhood or work in the vicinity.

A cherished bond has grown between the regulars and the friendly staff over the years, and in the video below, you can hear regular customer Erna tell us why she keeps coming to Te & Kaffi and how it makes her feel.

To go with your delicious drink of choice, there are many options. If you're hungry, try the tasty sandwiches, or go for our favorite, the grilled croissant with avocado and jalapeno cheese.

If you're craving something sweet, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy a classic cinnamon bun, a muffin, or a slice of cake, of which we highly recommend the French chocolate cake! It's rich in chocolate, sprinkled with salted nuts, and served with whipped cream, pairing perfectly with a cup of coffee.

This family business was originally founded in 1984 when husband-and-wife duo Sigmundur Dýrfjörð and Berglind Guðbrandsdóttir took a chance at their dream of opening a specialty coffee shop. Since then, this small coffee shop has grown into the most popular coffee house chain in Iceland, with eight locations around the Capital Region.

Te & Kaffi also runs a roaster and its packed products can (of course) be purchased at all Te & Kaffi locations, and many of the most popular products are also available in major grocery stores around Iceland such as Krónan.

Te & Kaffi has been part of the coffee culture in Iceland for over 40 years

Te & Kaffi has been a part of Iceland's coffee culture for over 40 years. The photo above is from the early days of the company.

The Te & Kaffi coffee beans are carefully picked from all around the world, and the emphasis is always on environmental and social responsibility. In 2013, the café brand earned the official Tún organic production certificate, becoming the first roastery in Iceland to do so.

The roasting process is indeed ecological and our automatic roasters are powered with methane, a renewable energy source extracted from organic waste. All our wrappings are 100% biodegradable, and even the capsules are recyclable.

The policy of Te & Kaffi aims to conserve nature while making people happy, awake, and aware. They call it “the good coffee“ to remind us and others of its origins.

With a rich history and commitment to excellent coffee and tea, Te & Kaffi is an integral part of Icelandic coffee culture. It's a great place to unwind with a tasty drink, either to start your day or for a coffee break after a day of exploring Reykjavik. So, next time you're in Iceland, make sure to stop by Te & Kaffi for a treat!
