I recently hiked through such an area, which made me feel like I stepped into another world for a moment. Aldeyjarfoss waterfall in the Skjálfandafljót river in North Iceland is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen in my country. It has a drop of 20 meters into a turbulent, icy-cold pool and is set in such beautiful basalt columns that the beauty blows my mind. These hills are called Rauðhólar - Red Hills, and are around 5,000 years old pseudocraters, give or take a few years. In a mysterious cave by the marina in Keflavík town lives a Giantess with a heart of gold. The Black Cave of the Giantess was opened on the 6th of September 2008 during the town festival Ljósanótt - Night of Lights. On that day, the Giantess moved all the way from her mountain into the cave in SW-Iceland. She doesn't have a name, as she has forgotten it, but is referred to as Giganta - Skessan in Icelandic. It is quite a remarkable cave, as two families lived in it in the last century, and two children were even born in this cave.
