Other cities in the area include Selfoss, along the River Olfusa 12.5 miles (20 kilometers) away; and Hella, a smaller town with famous caves located 30 miles (48 kilometers), so driving over to find a wider range of restaurants is an easy trip. The guesthouse’s location is also ideal for visiting the Thrihnukagigur Volcano, the only volcano in the world where visitors can go into the magma chamber. There is also the Raufarholshellir lava tube and the Floi Nature Reserve, the latter a great choice for bird watching across the river on the east bank.
