First the only downside of the trip was finding the meeting location. The booking was vague and we went to the wrong place. Eventually we found the right parking lot and then was directed to the right vehicle. That’s when the bad ended and all good from there! The ride to the tunnel was fun in the big 4x4 through lupin fields and lava fields. Caught a little air on a few hills! Getting to the mountains was just beautiful. The ice caves different than anything we’d ever experienced. Some of them were just beautiful. A mix of natural and man slightly altered caves. Our guide was as amazing, we always felt safe at the same time a bit daring. He was knowledgable and fun. He even serenaded us a lovely viking lullaby! We drank from glacier streams filtered through the lava rocks. And had plenty of time to explore the caves. Fun for adults and kids. This may have been our favorite excursion in Iceland, and we did many. If you’re unsure, just do it.
