The forest of Hallormsstadur is the largest forest of natural birch in Iceland.

A mere 30 meters drive from the Ring Road, the forest is situated alongside the river Lagarfljot, where the Icelandic equivalent of the Loch Ness monster is reported to live. Atlavik cove in Hallormsstadur is a highly popular camping area.
