He is the highest-ranking Korean male athlete in bouldering as well as lead, and is considered a strong candidate for a medal at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
The Korea Alpine Federation is secretly hoping that Lee Do-hyun will win a silver medal or better.
Do-Hyeon Lee, who has been challenging the International Federation of Mountaineering (IFSC) World Cup series since 2019, decorated his first 'World Cup medal' with silver at the 2022 IFSC World Cup Bouldering held in Innsbruck, Austria in June 2022.
Last June, Lee Do-hyun enjoyed the joy of his first 'World Cup gold medal' in his life by completing all four tasks in the bouldering final of the 2023 IFSC Sport Climbing World Cup 4th Competition held in Prague, Czech Republic.
Lee Do-hyun, who has steadily improved his skills, won a silver medal in the combined men's event at the Hangzhou Asian Games in October last year, and is now nurturing his dream of an Olympic medal by confidently earning a 'ticket to Paris' through the Olympic qualifiers.
Lee Do-hyun said, "My father always told me to enjoy the game.
My biggest wish is to enjoy the Paris Olympics as well," and "My goal is to make it to the finals and show a good performance."
Seo Chae-hyun, like Lee Do-hyun, has been climbing since she was 7, influenced by her parents who were both sports climbers.
As of July, Seo Chae-hyun is ranked 3rd in the world in lead climbing and 17th in the world in bouldering.
Seo Chae-hyun, who was called the 'women's prodigy', made a hot debut on the senior stage when she was 15 years old, winning 4 gold medals in the 2019 IFSC World Cup Series lead event.
Seo Chae-hyun, who narrowly missed out on a medal at the Tokyo Olympics, won a silver medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, and is now dreaming of her first 'Olympic medal' in her second Olympic stage, Paris.
Seo Chae-hyun, who is strong in lead events, is aiming for a bronze medal or higher at this competition.
Seo Chae-hyun said, "I regret not winning a medal even though I made it to the finals at the Tokyo Olympics, so my goal is to win a medal," and vowed, "As this is my second attempt, I will overcome the pressure and show good skills."
