Woori Bank is one win away from the title
Asan Woori Bank's Kim Dan-bi (34) scored in each quarter. She was silent in the first quarter, missing one field goal and two free throws. However, she found her shooting touch in the second quarter and scored eight of her team's 14 points in the decisive fourth quarter.
Woori Bank defeated Cheongju KB Stars 62-57 in the best-of-three best-of-five home finals of the 2023-2024 Women's Professional Basketball Championship on Monday. Kim Dan-bi led the way with a game-high 21 points (6 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals). Woori Bank, which won Game 1 and lost Game 2 before taking Game 3, needs just one win in the remaining two games to clinch its second straight title and 12th overall.
Woori was down 23-35 after two quarters. KB center Park Ji-soo (196 cm) scored only six points in the first half, as she was hit by a lot of shots from other KB players.
Woori Bank picked up the offensive tempo early in the third quarter when it was down 23-39. Sparked by a three-pointer from Park Ji-hyun (9 points, 6 rebounds), 스포츠토토 they quickly pulled away. A long-range three-pointer by Park Hye-jin (14 points, nine rebounds, five assists) with 1:54 left in the third quarter tied the game at 44-43. Park hit another three-pointer just before the end of the third quarter to tie the game at 45-45.
Woori never relinquished the lead the rest of the way. Choi Yi-sam (10 points, 7 rebounds) hit the decisive three-pointer off a pass from Kim Dan-bi with 1:29 left in the fourth quarter when the score was 56-54. "When the score was so high in the first half, I was thinking, 'I can't do it,' but everyone played together," Kim said. On defense, Kim also held KB Park Ji-soo to 37.5 percent shooting.
After scoring 37 points (20 rebounds) in Game 2, KB's Park Ji-Soo was held to 16 points (18 rebounds) on the night. It was her 15th double-double (double-digits in both offensive and defensive categories) in the Championship, and 10th in a row. Yoon-ah Yeom (15 points) and Heo Ye-eun (10 points, 5 assists) also scored in double figures. However, KB was unable to effectively counter Woori Bank's momentum in the third quarter and lost the game after leading by as many as 16 points at one point. Game 4 will be held on the 30th at the same venue.
