The vehicle was great and we had a comfortable and timely journey to the Blue Lagoon. The guides were helpful in letting us know all the details and were coordinating with us in our schedules patiently. We had a wonderful experience of the lagoon, and we would recommend going there and spending as much time as possible in the day there.
This tour was fantastic, and it was just us - no additions to the group. Einar was a great guide! He gauged our sense of adventure at the beginning of the day and then tailored the tour accordingly. The road to Ljotipollur was still blocked off so we couldn't get up close this time. Hekla was also pretty socked in with clouds and changing weather, so we only saw it from afar as well. Despite these hiccups, the rest of the day more than made up for what we couldn't experience. We even got to see a few things not on the general tour to make up for what we missed.
We booked this 2-day tour at last minute and felt grateful that Daytrips made it possible for us to visit South Coast and Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. Our guide/driver, Hjalmar, is a grandpa-like Icelandic and is familiar with the travel route as well as attractions along the way. We saw stunning waterfalls, volcanoes, lava fields, and glaciers; due to time limit, we did not have a chance to visit the Icelandic history museum. Hjalmar has much local knowledge and was willing to share it with us. We communicated in English; even though all of us are non-native speakers and we had some difficulty understanding each other, both sides have tried our very best... Iceland’s weather in winter is quite unpredictable. We were lucky to have nice sunshine and clear sky most of the time, but we also encountered a big blizzard on our way to Jokulsarlon. Since the road was covered by snow, for safety reason we did not reach the black beach with icebergs. The next morning we joined an ice cave tour at Skaftafell (not include in the 2-day tour, ISK 19.900 per person, operated by another travel company). The weather conditions were nice and our glacier guide was very informative and helpful. We spent about 3 hours walking on the glacier and exploring ice caves. It was an extraordinary experience and was definitely the best part of our trip to the south! After the ice cave tour, Hjalmar drove us back to Reykjavik. On the way we stopped by a black beach for 15 minutes. We arrived at Reykjavik at 18:30pm.
