Day 1 - The Golden Circle
Embark on Iceland's most traveled sightseeing route, The Golden Circle. You will travel in comfort on a minibus, avoiding the crowds you get with larger buses and enjoying the major sights with a more intimate group of people.
On the Golden Circle tour, you will be introduced to Icelandic music and food. In-between stops, your guide will play you the very best and well-known Icelandic tunes. The speedy Wi-fi on board will guarantee that if you like what you hear, you can find it on Spotify right away. You will also be treated to samples of traditional food and drink, although lunch is not included.
Your guide will pick you up in the morning to start your tour. To get warmed up, you will visit the wide but modest waterfall Faxi, named after the mane of the Icelandic horse.
Your next stop is Gullfoss, and prepare yourself to be amazed! Gullfoss is a mighty waterfall driven by the Hvítá river and is guaranteed to take your breath away. You can view the waterfall from several different locations for the perfect picture, and on sunny days you can hope to see a rainbow in this mighty natural wonder.
Next is the Geysir geothermal area, named after its once mightiest hot spring, which now lies dormant. Not to worry though, Geysir has a neighbor called Strokkur. Its eruption sends scalding water an impressive 49-66 feet (15-20 meters) in the air approximately every 5-minutes. Watch out for the mesmerizing bubble which forms just before the geyser is about to blow.
Your last visit is the seat of the oldest running parliament in the world, Þingvellir National Park. As well as historically significant, this is a geological wonder as you can walk the fissure between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.
You may recognize this iconic ridge as the pass to the Eyrie from Game of Thrones. In season four of the series, both Sansa and Littlefinger and Arya and the Hound cross through this place. It also features as the meeting point for the Thenns and Tormund Giantsbane and Ygritte after Jon Snow has betrayed the wildlings.
You will then be returned back to Reykjavík, where you are free to explore the city or just unwind at your accommodations. Please note that accommodations in Reykjavík are not included with this tour combo.
Day 2 - South Coast, Glacier Hike & Jokulsarlon
Today you will embark on a tour of the legendary South Coast. Your first location is Seljalandsfoss, a narrow waterfall that sends water cascading 197 feet (60 meters) in front of a spacious cavern, providing you with the unique opportunity to walk behind this natural beauty.
The South Coast is littered with waterfalls tumbling down from the interior. One of the most impressive is Skógarfoss. You can walk right up to this watery behemoth and climb the staircase which runs alongside it to view it in all its glory from above.
The South Coast is home to many of Iceland's glaciers which were used for shooting locations for scenes beyond the wall. You now have the opportunity (if you opted to in the booking process) to scale one of these icy giants like a wildling on a glacier hike. Sólheimajökull glacier is an outlet of Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which was used in Game of Thrones for the mighty battle scene at The Fist of the First Men. Don't worry, you won't need any dragon glass, just an ice ax and crampons, both of which will be provided.
Back to the minibus and onto Reynisfjara black pebble beach, iconic for the Reynisdrangar sea stacks and impressive basalt columns. Admire the might of the Atlantic ocean as it crashes into the shore, and the view of Dyrhólaey peninsula, which Game of Thrones fans might recognize from scenes at Eastwatch-by-the-Sea.
After lunch and a scenic drive, you will set your eyes on one of the most spectacular sights Iceland has to offer, the mystical glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón. Majestic icebergs float an array of majestic blues as they make their way to the sea.
You will retire to a local hotel for the evening, which is included with this tour combo. If you are visiting between late August and April, make sure to check the skies before you go to bed for a chance to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Day 3 - Jokulsarlon & Diamond Beach
Day-three and you will return to Jökulsárlón to marvel at the icebergs in a different light. You now have the option to float amongst the huge ice chunks on an Amphibian boat tour. This large vessel drives into the lagoon on wheels before cruising among the creaking icebergs. Amphibian boat tours frequently sell out, so we recommend opting for this adventure in the booking process to avoid missing out.
Once you have fully appreciated the beauty of Jökulsárlón, explore the nearby Diamond Beach. The ancient giant icebergs wash up onto the black sandy shore during high tide in this otherworldly place. Admire the morning light as it travels through the ice, close enough to touch.
An unforgettable day indeed, as you are driven back to Reykjavík, you can digest all the wonders of the South Coast while looking forward to an evening in Iceland's vibrant capital, where you have booked your own accommodation.
Day 4 - Akureyri & Myvatn
Your final day of adventure and your journey will start by making your own way to the Reykjavík domestic airport to catch your short northbound flight to Akureyri. Your knowledgeable guide will greet you at the Akureyri airport to begin your exploration of the beautiful Mývatn area.
First up is Goðafoss, which translates to 'the waterfall of the god'. This is a magnificent site and can be observed from many different impressive perspectives. Then, you'll stop to see the pseudocraters at Skútustaðgígar before visiting the tumultuous lava fields of Dimmuborgir, the setting for the camp of the wildlings led by Mance Rayder, the King Beyond the Wall.
One of the most impressive and recognizable sites is that of Grjótagjá cave, home to a geothermal pool which you will recognize as Jon Snow and Ygritte's rather intimate bathing spot. It is essential when you are visiting that you do not touch the water or put anything into it as this can threaten its conservation.
The next stop is the geothermal park at the foot of Mount Námafjall, which has a variety of bubbling pools of mud and fumaroles.
If you want, you can conclude your tour of the Mývatn area in the relaxing and scenic Mývatn Nature baths before traveling back to Akureyri and catching your return flight to Reykjavík.

For your overnight stay on the east coast, it is recommended that you pack lightly for this tour. If you wish to repack a smaller suitcase or backpack before your journey, luggage storage will be available.
