The self-risk in each case of these damages is lowered to ISK 90.000 (approx. EUR 800).

Unpaved roads are very common in Iceland and as you head into the wilderness you are more than likely to drive accross gravel sections in Icelandic roads. Gravel protection (GP) covers damages to wind screen, headlights and the car when gravel or rocks get thrown at the vehicle by another car. Self risk ISK 0.

Theft protection (TP) covers theft of the rented vehicle. By choosing TP the renter is able to lower the self risk down to ISK 0

The renter is able to purchase Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) insurance and by doing so lower the self risk of CDW (ISK 360.000) down to ISK 35.000. The renter is always responsible for the following damages, which are not covered by CDW or SCDW insurance: e.g. negligence, driving while intoxicated, damage to tires, headlights, wind screen and the underside of the car, damage caused by loose rocks which get thrown at the car on gravel roads, damages to the engine of the car

No regular car insurance covers damage from ash or sandstorm. The damage to paint, glass and plastic parts can be very costly, up to ISK 1.500.000. Therefore we offer an extra insurance (SADW) covering these damages, lowering your cost to ISK 150.000.
