We didn't actually get a Dacia Duster, we were given a Suzuki Vitara. We were very pleased with the car and the service we were provided at Blue car rental. The car was comfortable, efficient and rode and drove well.

The check in was easy. The customer service was very friendly and professional. I love the portable wi-fi. That was the saving grace of this trip. The part that could be improved was the sleeping bag and pillow could be in better condition. The car return was very quick since I got the platinum insurance. Overall I had a great time with Lotus and a fantastic trip.

I'm very happy with the experience, I had with "Guide To Iceland " I had only two available days. Being in Keflavik . Renting a car was the best option for me to visit a lot of things for a short time. The list of places, the lady in the office gave me , was in order of appearance of all of them on my route. I missed nothing. The car was clean and cosy. I spend wonderful time!

A 4x4 or SUV is Iceland's most popular rental category. These cars offer extra safety on gravel, stability in Iceland's strong winds, room for luggage and gear, and the only legal access to Highland F-roads in summer.
Choose this category for the safety and stability most Iceland travelers want, for driving the full Ring Road, for a Highland trip, or for renting a car in the winter season between October and March.
That stability matters most in winter. Icelandic authorities warn that gusts of 45 to 56 mph (72 to 90 km/h) can move any car on the road, and our study of the windiest and least windy months in Iceland found that days like that cluster from November to March. In those months, a 4x4 or SUV is the recommended choice.
Frost decides the rest. From November to March, the north and the inland Ring Road freeze almost every night, according to our study of Iceland’s warmest and coldest months, so a 4x4 earns its keep on every morning drive there.
A 4x4 is the only legal way to reach Iceland’s F-roads, the mountain roads that open from late June to early September and lead into the Highlands.
They take you to remote areas like Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve, Thorsmork Valley, and Askja Caldera, and to highland campsites such as Hólaskjól, which our study on campsites in Iceland compares with the rest of the country.
On regular roads, four-wheel drive gives you better traction in winter, more stability against Iceland’s crosswinds, and the cargo space for a long
Match the vehicle to your trip:
Always check the specific car's listing for Highland approval before you book. Our guide to rental car sizes in Iceland helps you decide.
Before you book, note the following
A 4x4 sits higher and weighs more than a compact car. It handles less responsively in tight turns and on sudden braking, so drive at moderate speeds and brake earlier than you would in a smaller car.
Three habits keep you safe:

Every 4x4 or SUV rental comes with:
Optional add-ons available from most suppliers:
Things insurance won't cover:
Pickup is available at Keflavik Airport car rentals, Reykjavik car rentals, and at Akureyri in North Iceland and Egilsstadir in the Eastfjords. One-way rentals are available for an additional fee.
To rent a 4x4 or SUV in Iceland, you'll need:
Most rentals are free to modify or cancel up to 24 hours before pickup, with exact terms on each car's product page.
Summer (June to August) and the northern lights months (October to March) book out fastest, so reserve 2-3 months ahead if you can. For more guidance, see our best tips for renting a car in Iceland.
