Blue House B&B has a peaceful location on the Seltjarnarnes Penninsula 2.6 miles (4.3 kilometers) northwest of downtown Reykjavik. This is an amazing location for spotting the Northern Lights, Iceland’s most famous natural phenomenon and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s just a 2.9 mile (4.7 kilometers) walk from the Grotta Lighthouse – a well-known hotspot for Northern Light viewing. Reykjavik is home to a whole host of sights as well as cultural activities and great nightlife. There are 18 swimming pools in the greater Reykjavik area, some with indoor and outdoor pools as well as a sauna and at least one hot tub. The pools have heated water which means you can swim and relax all year round. For an even more natural experience, try Nautholsvik, a beach in Reykjavik whose waters are heated with geothermal water at designated times throughout the day. Reykjavik is also home to plenty of shops if you’re in need of some retail therapy, too; as well as numerous pretty residential streets best explored on foot or bicycle and many bars and restaurants. In addition to being a city to explore in its own right, Reykjavik makes a great base for day tours.
