As you make your way here from Reykjavik on the Ring Road, you should stop in the historic small town of Hvolsvollur for gas and light supplies as this might be your last stop for items you’ll need before Mio-Mork Guesthouse. This small town is famous for the Icelandic Saga of the 9th century and the Icelandic Saga Center here has a full display of this magical history. Further southeast past Mio-Mork Guesthouse is Eyjafjallajokull, a volcano famous for its huge 2010 eruption and which now has an ice-cap on its peak.

Mio-Mork Guesthouse is a large five-bedroom house on rolling farmland with small hills and trees filling the green pastures. It is a perfect house for a large family or large group of friends because it can comfortably sleep 10 people (a baby cot and high chair are also available). Mio-Mork Guesthouse is in a very private area with a beautiful mountain view visible from the massive picture window in the huge common at the front of the house, which also has an extra sofa bed and flatscreen TV. There is also a large patio in the back of the house with river views for dining and family gatherings. Free Wi-fi is available throughout the house, and there are two bathrooms. Bed linens and towels are included, and the kitchen has everything you need for cooking any meals. Board games are also supplied in addition to DVD games for kids. Pets are allowed at Mio-Mork Guesthouse but you must call ahead and speak with the owner in advance of your stay.
