Traustholtsholmi may only have one year-round resident, but it has everything that a traveller can need, particularly on a spiritual level. Food is sourced from the island itself, and enjoyed in a feast each evening. The salmon is caught from the river and vegetables grown in the garden, the harvesting of which you are welcome to join. Aside from fishing and gardening, you can spend your time on the island birdwatching, hiking around its circumference, or simply reconnecting with the beauty of untouched nature in the tall grass.

As Traustholtsholmi is only open in June and July, it provides an incredible opportunity to fully enjoy the majesty of Iceland’s midnight sun, which is at its brightest over these months.
