From a paraglider over the South Coast of Iceland, it is possible to see awesome sites such as Mýrdalsjökull glacier.

Take to the skies with a thrilling tandem paraglide ride over the South Coast of Iceland. This tour should not be missed by those seeking a shot of adrenaline, without missing out on some incredible sightseeing.

No experience is required to join this excursion; you will be in the safe hands of an experienced paraglider who will guide your craft through the beautiful summer skies. This is, therefore, an easy way to add an incredible adventure to your Icelandic holiday.

The tour begins when you meet your guide,  who will be waiting with your paraglide, near the village of Vík Í Mýdral on the South Coast. The exact location will be emailed to you the day before you arrive, based on weather forecasts and conditions, but will be no further than forty-five minutes from the settlement.

Once here, you will be briefed on how to ride in tandem on a paraglider, as well as told a little about what you will see. Your guide will then inflate your craft, secure you safely, and after a few downhill steps, you’ll take to the sky.

The South Coast is incredible from ground-level; from above, it is simply awe-inspiring. The stretch is one of Iceland’s most popular sightseeing regions due to the diversity in its landscapes and features, and an aerial perspective of them is not easily forgotten.

While the weather will dictate your exact route, you are very likely to see the beautiful black sand beach Reynisfjara, and the Reynisdrangar sea-stacks that rise just offshore. The Dyrhólaey rock arch may also be on the agenda, as you soar amongst the many birds that nest on its cliffs.

Inland, you will hopefully be able to look upon some of the South’s awesome glaciers, such as Sólheimajökull, an outlet popular with glacier-hikers, and the greater Mýrdalsjökull. On clear days, you may even see the largest ice cap in Europe, Vatnajökull, and the notorious Eyjafjallajökull, which erupted in 2010.

After twenty minutes soaring above these incredible locations, you’ll make a smooth landing, and be free to carry on your travels.

Of course, nature can be fickle, and weather may prevent a tour going ahead. If so, you will be allowed to join another day, and if you do not become airborne on your trip due to conditions, you will be fully refunded.

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to take to the skies over the South Shore of Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
