Most travellers to Iceland will see no more of the Reykjanes Peninsula that the dramatic views of it from the window of the bus from Keflavík Airport. This tour, however, will introduce you to its many incredible hidden gems.

After being picked up from Reykjavík in a super jeep, perfect for taking on the bumpy roads ahead and ensuring your trip is comfortable and personal, you will set off on your exploration.

The first features you will come to are the peninsula’s beautiful lakes Kleifarvatn and Grænavatn. The former is enormous and surrounded by jagged volcanoes, while the latter is an unusual green colour due to the elements within it, brought to the earth’s surface by volcanic activity.

Following this, you will see another vividly coloured region at the Krýsuvík geothermal area; there are many hot springs and steam vents here, which you can explore via a wooden footpath. This feature is close to the dramatic cliffs of Krýsuvíkurberg, which in summer, are home to tens of thousands of nesting seabirds.

You will see another geothermal area at Gunnuhver, which has the country’s largest mud pot and a lot of folklore.

After making the most of these awe-inspiring sites, you will be escorted to the Blue Lagoon. Please note entry to the spa is not included in the price of this tour and needs to be booked in advance.

The Blue Lagoon is the most popular and well-known pool in the country. This is largely because of its size, the beautiful colouration of its waters, its reputed healing properties and its many treatments.
