Daily itinerary

Day 1 - From Reykjavík to Kulusuk, from Kulusuk to Tasiilaq

Traditional, colourful houses under the summer sun in Kulusuk, Greenland.

Your first day will begin at Reykjavík Domestic Airport, where you will board an early, two-hour flight over to Kulusuk, a village of 250 people on an island of the same name. To reach the main town of the region, Tasiilaq, you will board a helicopter, and enjoy a breathtaking ten-minute flight over a fjord filled with icebergs.

Once in Tasiilaq, you are welcome to join a guided city-walk. This will take you to a local workshop, where you can see native artists creating their renowned handicrafts. Following that, you will head to the town’s museum, hosted in an old church, where you can learn all about the fascinating history and development of life in East Greenland. You will then head up a hill to the town’s new church, to attain some beautiful views across the settlement.

With the city-tour complete, you then have the option of heading to the nearby ‘Flower Valley’. This beautiful region, as the name suggests, is filled with wildflowers, such as arctic thyme, bluebells, dandelions, and the national flower, the broad-leaved willow herb. This hike will run along a river for several kilometres until you reach a small waterfall; here, you can enjoy the serene nature before returning to town.

You will spend the night in Tasiilaq.

Day 2 - Boat tour to the icebergs

The icebergs in Greenland's summer seas are like large islands.

Your second day will consist of a boat tour, leaving from Tasiilaq’s picturesque harbour. Depending on when you arrive, this will take you to one of two equally spectacular destinations. The first of these is the Sermilik Ice-fjord, renowned for the many icebergs that fill its waters. The second will take you to the Knud Rasmussen Glacier, which is often referred to as ‘the world’s largest ice-machine’. Regardless of which trip you take, you are sure to witness some breathtaking sights.

You will spend your second night at the same accommodation.

Day 3 - Return to Reykjavík

The landscapes of Greenland from Kulusuk are undoubtedly some of the most beautiful in the world.

On day three, you will make your way back to Reykjavík. To reach it, you will return to the helicopter, for a spectacular ride back to Kulusuk over the same ice-fjord as before. From here, you will board a plane that will return you to Reykjavík’s Domestic Airport. Unless your flight home leaves that evening, enjoy your night in Iceland's vibrant capital.
