Come along on this private jeep tour and experience beautiful Reykjanes, the Blue Lagoon, the Lava Tunnel and the Northern Lights.
During this tour, you will be amazed by various types of Icelandic landscapes: black sand deserts, basalt cliffs, volcanoes, steaming geothermal areas, colourful lava caves and much more.
In the morning we will pick you up from your accommodation in Reykjavik with our comfortable 4x4 jeep, then head South to visit the fantastic Raufarhólshellir lava cave in Iceland.
You will spend an hour in the lava tunnel where our experienced local guide will tell you about the various lava formations, how the lava caves were created, the different types of minerals involved and the volcanic nature of Iceland. You will also have plenty of time to take breathtaking photographs of the colourful lava formations and shining bacteria that cover the walls.
The next highlight of this incredible tour will be the Reykjanes UNESCO Geopark, one of Iceland’s geological gems, where tectonic movements are always present. The main attractions of the Reykjanes Geopark are the mesmerizing Kleifarvatn and Grænavatn lakes, as well as the steamy geothermal hills of Krýsuvík and Seltún.
On our next stop, we will have a walk on the paths between hot springs and mud pools in the Gunnuhver geothermal area and visit one of the oldest lighthouses in Iceland, Reykjanesviti. After that, we will cross the bridge between two continents—a bridge going over the precise fault between the North American and the European tectonic plates, which are continually moving apart.
After a day full of attractions, we will visit one of the most popular natural pools in Iceland, the famous Blue Lagoon, for approximately an hour and a half of geothermal relaxation. Please note that the Blue Lagoon ticket is not included in the price and must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. The visit to the Blue Lagoon is optional, it is also possible to just take a walk around the geothermal area, photographing steamy blue pools and green lava fields. You can also pick up some refreshments at the Blue Café.
At the end of the tour, we will try our luck on a hunt for the amazing Northern Lights. During the tour, we will be continually checking the Aurora forecast to find the best possible spots for you to see this spectacular natural phenomenon, away from city light pollution and in the middle of Iceland's stunning natural environment. Please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can be never guaranteed. The Aurora season in Iceland is from mid-August to mid-April.
So don't delay. Come along on this wonderful jeep excursion and experience some of Iceland's greatest natural wonders. Check availability by choosing a date.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and as such, never easy to predict. They depend on several factors, such as cloud coverage, solar activity and general weather conditions. We check the conditions every day and then decide in the afternoon whether to operate the tour or not. If the conditions are not good, the tour will be canceled. We will notify you by email or phone.
