You will be picked up from your Reykjavík accommodation for departure early in the morning. The vehicle you will be travelling in is a Super Jeep, perfect for getting you to your destination in the lava fields. The limited seats in the jeep mean that you can be guaranteed a comfortable trip, and do not need to worry about too many others on the tour with you.
The journey to your destination will not last long; you are heading to Bláfjöll, a mountain range just outside of Reykjavík, to a 5000-year-old lava field called Heiðmörk. Here you will find a single track that rolls through some beautiful, barren landscapes. Your guide will introduce you to your mountain bike, you’ll strap on your helmet, and start your adventure.
The journey is as thrilling as it is spectacular. The nature around Reykjavík is stunning, and there is no better way to experience it than riding at high speed, wind rushing against your skin. The equipment you need for this trip is all provided for you; just bring appropriate, warm-weather clothing that you are comfortable cycling in. The most important things to remember are decent hiking shoes and gloves. If you are an avid biker, you can bring your own pedals with you and your guide will attach them for you.

Heidmork is conservation area of over 300 hectars of land and a favorite pastime location, situated on the outskirts of Reykjavik.
Heidmork is one of he primary sources for cold water in the capital region. It also has a beautiful forest of over five million plants and about 150 species of flowers. Rabbits and over 60 types of birds can be found there. Of particular note are Raudholar, a spectacular remainder of a cluster of pseudocraters and the salmon river Ellidaar. A number of caves can be found in the area, such as Mariuhellir and Draugahellar. During World War Two the British army used material from the craters to build the airport in Reykjavik.
The Blue Mountains are a beautiful mountain range of the tuff type, located around 20 km from Reykjavik, by the lava plateau of Hellisheidi. The mountains are the most popular skiing venue for the people of Reykjavik and its surroundings.
The mountains offer excellent slopes for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboards. The area is strong with volcanic activity, with frequent earthquakes and the lava that became Kristnitokuhraun lava field flowed from there in the year 1000. Kristnitokuhraun is located at the outskirts of the Blue Mountains. Also in the area is the fascinating underworld of the lava tube Leidarendi.
