Come and join this electric bike tour around the crater Búrfell and the canyon around it, Búrfellsgjá. This tour is a great chance to experience one of Reykjavíks most popular outdoor area and go for an amazing ride. On the way, you will witness, among others, a real volcanic crater, a canyon, an old sheep round-up, a rift valley and caves. 

The tour starts when you are picked up in Reykjavík. From there, you'll be driven Heiðmörk area, where you'll mount your bike and head towards Búrfellsgjá canyon. 

On the way, you will pass an old sheep round-up station where farmers used to sort their sheep, which had been roaming free around the countryside all summer.

You'll then continue towards the crater alongside a lava field. You'll see the direction the lava flowed thousands of years ago, from the crater and towards the sea.

When you reach the foot of the crater, you'll park your bike and hike all the way to the top. There, you'll have a fantastic view of the crater and surrounding lava field, as well as the Heiðmörk and Hafnarfjörður area.

 Coming down from Búrfell, you will follow a fantastic single-track which runs along a rift valley. That valley is a part of the volcanic line that lies all the way through Iceland, from north to south.

When riding through the trail please note we have to stay on the trail at all times, as one of our goals is to have minimal effect on the fragile environment.  

If have your biking clothes with you, use them, if not dress like you are going hiking. Layers are good.
