The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa and is the single most popular attraction in Iceland.
The water is rich in silica and sulphur that helps make your skin shine like a baby. The Blue Lagoon also operates a Research and Development facility that helps find cures for skin ailments using the mineral-rich water.
The temperature in the bathing and swimming area is very comfortable, and averages 37–39 °C (98–102 °F). There´s a restaurant there and it´s a truly romantic and beautiful place one should not miss while in Iceland.
Laxnes is a farm in Mosfellsdalur Valley. Nobel author Halldor Laxness was partly brought up here and adopted the farm's name as his surname.
Laxness later moved back to Laxnes and made his home in a new house he called Gljufrasteinn, which now functions as a museum in his memory. Laxnes has a hotel and a horse rental, taking you through the beautiful landscape of the valley.
Starting time : 09:00, 12:30
This was my second time riding at this horse farm, and I plan to do it every time I visit Iceland! The family is welcoming, the horses are sweet and friendly, and the view on the trails is amazing. Highly recommended - but be sure to dress appropriately!! The Blue Lagoon is also a must-do on a trip from Reykjavik. And a soak in the warm water after a morning out on the horses is perfect. This combo makes for an excellent day!
