Description

Book your private tour in a 4x4 SUV vehicle to explore one of the spectacular diamond of Icelandic nature Thorsmork, in all its power. You will start heading East along the South Coast after you have been picked up at your accommodation by your driver-guide.

Your first stop will be at the unique waterfall Seljalandsfoss, which drops 60 metres in height - situated where the coastline ended millenniums ago, in a river which has its origins in the mighty and powerful volcano and glacier Eyjafjallajokull. Not only is the waterfall captivating, but you can also walk behind it, and it is a popular spot to take photos from behind the water.

A little further in the same cliffs, you can see a few smaller waterfalls. One of which is called Gljufrabui, or 'little brother'. It is hidden in a narrow gorge, made accessible by some stepping stones in the river. At this spot, you can take fantastic photos of the waterfall inside this gorge.

Next, you will stop at the mysterious canyon Stakkholtsgja. It is a beautiful natural wonder, the palagonite cliffs rise about 100 metres on both sides, and here you could take a 1.5 km hike inside the canyon. At the end of the canyon, there is a beautiful waterfall where you will experience a remarkable peace. Here you may also be reminded of the Game of Thrones series, as some of the episodes were filmed in this location.

Thorsmörk is surrounded by three glaciers, Tindfjallajokull, Myrdalsjokull and the famous Eyjafjallajokull, which erupted in 2010 and disrupted all the flights in Europe. Explore one of two glacier outlets at Gigjokull, where all the ice melted ice to flood the land to the sea.

Drive further on and arrive at the Valley of Thor, where you can enjoy some lunch and perhaps observe the unique weather system in place in Thorsmork. This area also boasts the most popular hiking trails in Iceland. Two of these are incredibly famous and end at Thorsmork. On your way back to Reykjavik, if there is time, you could have a quick stop at a place called the Lava Center to observe the volcanic power within Iceland.

Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity. Check availability by choosing a date.
