Join this fun-filled tour to see waterfalls, geothermal areas, mountains, valleys and lakes. The Highlights of the North tour is perfect for those who only have a day to spare in the region and want to see the best spots of northern Iceland.

Your private driver and guide will pick you up at your hotel, guesthouse or Akureyri airport and drive to the beautiful landscapes of North Iceland.

Goðafoss, 'The Waterfall of the Gods', is your first stop of the day. Goðafoss is considered to be one of the most stunning waterfalls in Iceland, some say it is like a miniature version of the Niagara Falls. It is also a place of great historical importance. After Iceland officially converted to Christianity in 1000 AD, a law-speaker threw idols of the old Gods into the waters in a symbolic gesture.

From there you'll make your way up Bárðardalur valley along the glacial river Skjálfandafljót, and come to the fantastic Aldeyjarfoss waterfall and the basalt rock column formations around it. It is a sight not to be missed.

Lake Mývatn is next on your agenda. The lake and its surroundings were formed in a volcanic eruption over two thousand years ago. At Mývatn, you will see abstract landscapes such as Skútustaðagígar pseudocraters, Höfði cape, and the majestic mountain Hverafjall.

You will also visit otherworldly areas that were settings for the television show Game of Thrones, such as the lava rocks at Dimmuborgir, and Grjótagjá cave. On top of that, you will get to witness the raw power of Hverir geothermal area, learn about the geological history of Krafla volcano,  and relax in the Mývatn Nature Baths.

You will end your tour by driving to Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall and the setting for the opening scene of the movie Prometheus.

On the road, there will be plenty of time for stops where you can have a bite to eat, stretch your legs and capture the amazing Icelandic nature on film. At the end of the day, you will be dropped off at your hotel, guesthouse or Akureyri airport.

Don't let this immersive trip pass you by. Check availability by choosing a date.
