Join this horse riding tour where the bright midnight sun will provide the perfect setting for an evening ride through the volcanic environment just outside of Reykjavík city. Those wanting to add an exciting twist to their Icelandic holiday should grab this opportunity now.

You’ll be picked up in the evening and driven to the rural area of the Reykjavík where you’ll find the stables. Once there, you’ll meet your guide who will give you a quick safety briefing, show you how to ride, and then finally introduce you to your horse.

This tour requires no prior experience, and Icelandic horses are renowned for their gentle manner, making them a great companion for novice riders. The horses are also friendly and curious, so they’ll be happy to meet you.

In a small group, you’ll head on out to the beautiful countryside on the outskirts of Reykjavík in an area known as Heiðmörk. There, you’ll find a vast expanse of both lush vegetation and lava formations.

You’ll ride through Heiðmörk’s most popular area, Rauðhólar, or ‘Red Hills’, which are remnants of a cluster of pseudocraters. Rauðhólar are comprised of red volcanic rocks and are located in the Elliðahraun lava field. The bright red colour of the hills is in stark contrast to the black lava and green moss of the surrounding area.

The days are long during the summer in Iceland. You can expect to see the sun shining in the evening as early as May and as late as August. The midnight sun’s rays will light your path on this riding tour, providing great visibility late into the evening.

Saddle up and ride into the sunset on this exciting evening tour. Check availability by choosing a date.
