Enjoy two incredible water-based adventures on this full-day whale watching and river rafting combination tour. Those eager to marvel at magnificent whales and birdlife in the morning and enjoy the thrill of rafting in the afternoon should book this action-packed tour now.

Your perfect summer excursion begins with pick up from your chosen Reykjavik location 45 minutes before the tour. If you’d prefer to arrange your own transportation, you can meet your guide before 9 a.m. at the Elding ticket office at Reykjavik’s Old Harbour.

Anticipation builds as you head out into Faxafloi Bay for a three-hour excursion to spot whales and birds. Breathe in the fresh sea air as you scan the sea, searching for whales, dolphins, and birdlife. Common species include minke whales, harbor porpoises, and white-beaked dolphins.

The humpback whale is less commonly seen but still possible in these waters. They are known for their showmanship and are a real treat to see. If you’re lucky, you may see one thrust itself out of the water, called a breach, with an impressive tail slap to follow.

Remember your camera so you can capture unforgettable memories of this experience. The boat has a large deck, perfect for close-up wildlife views and panoramic natural vistas.

After a beautiful morning on the boat, you will return to the harbor, where the rafting bus will pick you up. The driver will take you about 62 miles (100 kilometers) from Reykjavik to the Drumboddsstadir rafting base camp.

Feel the adrenaline pumping through your body as you raft through Gullfoss Canyon on the Hvita River, an area of outstanding beauty. This class-two river is gentle enough to suit all skill levels, yet there is plenty of excitement waiting.

Take your white water thrills to the next level by jumping from a cliff into the water or leaping off the raft.

The rafting part of this tour takes between 60 and 90 minutes and will not disappoint. It’s an excellent way to have an active afternoon while admiring natural landscapes.

After returning to base camp, it’s time for relaxation in the sauna or hot tub. It’s hard to think of a better end to your day, and it is a welcoming way to warm up before the shuttle bus takes you back to Reykjavik.

Don’t miss the opportunity to check off two bucket-list activities in one day by whale watching from the Reykjavik harbor and rafting on the Hvita river. Check availability by choosing a date.
