Description

Enjoy a thrilling off-roading experience with this panoramic one-hour buggy tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula, with beautiful views of lava fields and the Blue Lagoon. This tour is perfect for adventure seekers who want to combine an action-packed ride with excellent photography opportunities.

The excursion begins at the operator’s base in the town of Grindavik. You can choose to make your own way there or get picked up and dropped off at your hotel in Reykjavik.

Once you arrive at the base, your expert local guide will check you in and teach you how to drive a buggy safely. They are easy to use, so it doesn’t matter if you haven’t driven one before.

You can book one buggy per person or share one with other travelers in your group. Each vehicle can seat up to four passengers. Anyone who wants to drive the buggy will need a valid driver’s license. If you don’t have one, you can ride as a passenger with friends, or the guide can do the driving instead.

Children are welcome as passengers on the tour, but must be at least six years old.

Once you’ve checked in, your guide will give you overalls, gloves, boots, and a helmet to wear during the tour. Once you’re dressed, you’ll be ready to leave the base camp to start your adventure. Now it’s time to enjoy a full hour of excitement!

Your guide will lead you and the rest of the tour group out into nature to see some of the most beautiful areas of the Reykjanes Peninsula. You’ll start by driving through lava fields and an old harbor, with lovely views out to sea. You’ll see shipwrecks that have washed ashore, and your guide will tell you all about the area's history.

Next, you’ll start to drive up a mountain path to enjoy the scenery even more. Going up the rocky trails of Hagafell mountain is great fun, but the views from the top are even better. Look around at the spectacular 360-degree panorama and take a few photos.

You’ll be able to see the Blue Lagoon and its surrounding pools of vivid blue water from here, but there are also views of volcanic craters, a dramatic coastline, and the island of Eldey.

You should even be able to see Fagradalsfjall, a volcano in Geldingadalur valley that erupted throughout much of 2021. There was also a military airplane crash on the mountain's slope during World War II.

Once you’ve finished taking photos and learning about the region, your guide will lead your group back down the mountain to finish the tour. You can end the trip at the base or at the Blue Lagoon (admission not included). If you select pick-up when booking, you'll be driven back to Reykjavik.

Don’t miss your chance to go off-roading through lava fields and up mountain paths on this exhilarating one-hour buggy tour with views of the Blue Lagoon. Check availability now by choosing a date.
