Description

Grab your chance to flight-see over some of Iceland's staggering natural wonders on this Silver Circle helicopter tour. If you wish to gaze at the beauty of West Iceland from a bird's eye point of view, this is the excursion for you.

Your adventure starts at Reykjavík Domestic Airport. There, your pilot will help you to prepare, showing you the flight path on a map and giving you some insight into what to expect. You will be flying in a modern and expertly maintained helicopter, ensuring your enjoyment, comfort and safety throughout the tour's duration.

Then, get ready to take off, as for approximately the next hour and a half, you will be taken on a majestic aerial journey to a few of West Iceland's most picturesque destinations.

Your first stop will be at the tallest waterfall in Iceland. You will fly 50km north from  Reykjavík toward the tranquil Hvalfjörður, a fjord renown for its solitude, greenery and pleasant shorelines. You will fly the full length and width of the fjord, before finally heading to the mighty waterfall, Glymur.

Water cascades an incredible 640ft into a dramatic canyon, an incredible sight from every angle. This is an excellent opportunity for budding photographers to grab some excellent snapshots, so don't forget to bring your camera along into the air.

Next, you will fly to the continental rift valley Þingvellir National Park. See with your own eyes the North-American and Eurasian tectonic plates pulling the earth apart, creating stunning cracks and fissures in the already incredibly scenic landscape.

Finally, you head to the active volcano Mount Hengill. Here, you will observe the bubbling geothermal pools, the multicoloured soil and steaming hot vents. Your pilot will point out the nearby power plant and teach you about how Icelanders have historically harnessed this geothermal energy. There will be one landing during the tour, made at the pilot's discretion.

Make sure you too can experience these amazing cultural and aesthetic sights that make West Iceland so incredible. Check availability by choosing a date.
