10 Hour Kayaking Tour in the Westfjords to Seydisfjordur & Hestfjordur with Transfer from Isafjordur

Explore two incredible fjords of the Westfjords with a kayaking tour from Ísafjörður. This trip is perfect for those who want to see the marvellous nature of this untouched region in a unique and adventurous way.

You will begin your day by meeting your guide and group at Mávagarður C, a grey garage building with our logo on it half an hour before departure. Once you are gathered and geared up, you’ll take a forty minute drive to the fjord of Seyðisfjörður, where your kayak awaits.

You’ll be given a few minutes to get acquainted with this new way of travelling, before setting out behind your guide. The region you will be travelling is called Snæfjallaströnd, which is renowned for the birdlife in its cliffs and the curious seals in its waters. With the snow-capped hills and a view of a distant glacier, you’ll truly feel like you are on the cusp of the Arctic.

You will follow Seyðisfjörður along a headland called Folafótur; once you reach its tip, you will pull up on its sandy shore for a little break. There are many unusual coastal formations along this stretch, formed by erosion, and abandoned farmhouses, that you can admire while you have some lunch you brought with you.

Once you are satisfied and ready to set off, you’ll travel down your second fjord, Hestfjörður. You have a great chance of seeing more seals, and a decent chance of seeing white-beaked dolphins, humpback whales, or even a less common species like belugas and orcas.

Finally, you will reach your disembarking point, by the main road at the bottom of the fjord, where your transfer will be waiting to take you back to Ísafjörður.
