Feel the burn with this sizzling helicopter tour, exploring some of Iceland's most incredible and active volcanoes, as well as the breathtaking beauty of their surrounding areas!
The tour office is where your adventure will begin, at Hangar 6, just beside Reykjavik Domestic Airport. This is where you will meet your pilot and guide, a highly trained and experienced professional, with an intricate knowledge of Iceland. They will run through the designated itinerary, showing you on a map the route you will be taking. He will also discuss the aircraft, a modern helicopter that makes up just part of a modern and maintained fleet, ensuring your comfort and safety throughout the duration of your trip.
Your aerial adventure will first take you to Þorvaldseyri, a small farm at the base of the infamous yet magnificent Eyjafjallajökull volcano. At the visitor's centre (open from May 15th - September 15th only), you will learn firsthand what life was like for those experiencing a volcanic eruption in, essentially, their backyard. The volcano last erupted in April 2010.
With that in mind, you will next fly to the top of Eyjafjallajökull, exploring the fascinating volcanic aftermath of the previous eruption. You will then soar seamlessly across to the other side of the volcano to see the naturally wooded area (a rarity in Iceland) of Þórsmörk.
On your return flight to Reykjavik, you will pass Hekla volcano, which on average, erupts every decade or so. You will be able to see the layers upon layers of dried lava surrounding Hekla, a testament to its ferocious power. The tour will last, overall, approximately two and a half hours.
See for yourself, from an entirely unique aerial perspective, what's generating all the heat! Don't miss out on your chance to become a volcano hunter! Check the booking availability by choosing a date.
