Helicopter Ride & Glacier Hike from Reykjavik

Helicopter Ride & Glacier Hike from Reykjavik
Helicopters can access places in Iceland that are otherwise impossible to reach.
Different conditions in Iceland make for different experiences, but all are as awe-inspiring.

Due to the size of helicopters, you naturally have a small group guarantee.
An Icelandic glacier lined with veins of black ash.
Children too young for glacier hiking tours in Iceland can still walk on them on this helicopter tour.

Combine two awe-inspiring adventures with this helicopter ride and glacier hike. If you are seeking a personal experience far from the crowds, which combines the beauty of Iceland’s nature with the thrilling activities on offer, this is the tour for you.

Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in the morning and whisk you over to Reykjavík’s Domestic Airport, where your helicopter awaits. After a briefing on your route, you will board the chopper, buckle up, and take to the skies.

Lift-off is an adrenaline pumping moment; in mere seconds, the airstrip and airport will shrink beneath you, and the rest of Reykjavík will unfold. You will spend a few minutes circling above the city, admiring the patchwork quilt of colourful tin roofs, and landmarks such as Hallgrímskirkja Church and Harpa Concert Hall.

After admiring the capital from an aerial perspective, your pilot will whisk you along the South Coast towards the glacier Sólheimajökull. This is one of Iceland’s most popular stretches, and from above, you will see why. Waterfalls, ice caps, volcanoes, black sand beaches and lava fields will all pass by, so keep your camera in hand.

Your helicopter will expertly land on the surface of Sólheimajökull, at its highest reaches, far from the crowds. Your guide on board will give you all the necessary equipment, tell you about the safety, then lead you out onto the ice.

You will have an unmatched perspective of Iceland’s glaciers and surrounding landscapes as you walk along plunging crevasses, by mighty ridges, and over fields of gleaming snow. Your guide will tell you all about the science behind and history of the ice as you walk.

After an hour-long exploration, you will return to your chopper. Your pilot will then fly you back to Reykjavík, but not before revealing to you more incredible landscapes from above.

Take to the sky and hike a glacier with this awesome combo tour. Check availability by choosing a date.
