Description

Step off of your cruise ship and hop onto a minibus to explore one of Iceland’s most treasured sightseeing routes; the Golden Circle. This tour is the perfect opportunity to see some of the most incredible natural attractions in Iceland with an expert guide who will not only introduce you to the sights but pick you up and drop you off at your cruise ship.

Select your ship from the pick-up list, and your guide will pick you up from the dock as you disembark from your cruise ship. From Reykjavík, you will travel to your first stop on the Golden Circle route; Þingvellir National Park.

Þingvellir is a fascinating area for many reasons. The park is characterised mainly by the ridge that runs through it which is made up of the exposed Eurasian and North American tectonic plates as they pull apart from one another.

Þingvellir was also the setting for the formation of the Icelandic parliament, the Alþingi, back in 930 AD which makes it the longest ongoing parliament in the world. Walk between continents and take in the marvellous views and culture of the region.

You will then move onto the mesmerising Geysir geothermal area where you will encounter steaming water spill over the surface of the earth creating many vivid colours thanks to the minerals in the water. You will watch the geyser, Strokkur shoot boiling water high up into the air approximately every 5-10 minutes.

You will then move onto the third and final official stop of the Golden Circle, Gullfoss waterfall. This brilliant natural feature is the second most powerful of its kind in Europe, and the water here cascades over two tiers into a deep canyon. On sunny days, it’s often possible to see a rainbow in the waterfall’s mist.

On your return journey to your ship, there will be an extra stop to Kerið crater famous for its vivid colouration and brilliant blue lake that resides within it.

Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to make the most of your cruise stop in Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
