Authentic Whale Watching tour from Husavik

See the giants of the deep on this classic whale-watching tour from Húsavík. Often called the whale-watching capital of Europe, tours from here have a 99% success rate, and are essential for anyone with a passion for nature and wildlife.

The boats leave several times a day, so simply choose a timing most convenient to you, and be at the harbour fifteen minutes beforehand. You will then board your whale-watching boat, and after all the necessary preparations, set out into Skjálfandi bay.

You will spend up to three hours on the water, which should be plenty of time to enjoy several sightings. The most common creature you are likely to see is the humpback whale, renowned for its size and acrobatic behaviour, but many other species are also sighted. White-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises are common visitors in these waters, and occasionally orcas, beaked whales, fin whales and even the great blue whale are also spotted.

While the highlight of this tour is no doubt the abundance of whales and dolphins, you are also likely to see a number of seabirds. These include guillemots, kittiwake, fulmar, razorbills, and often the adorable puffin.

The boat you travel on has several excellent viewing platforms that will allow you to marvel over these creatures without trouble; you can use the overalls and blankets on board to stave off the cold and stay outside for as much of the tour as possible. There is an inside area you can warm-up, where you will receive complimentary hot chocolate and cinnamon buns.

Information about whales, seabirds, and the surrounding landscapes will be provided to you by the expert guide on board—you are, of course, welcome to ask any questions that come to mind.

At the end of your three hours, you will be brought back to Húsavík, where you can get on with the rest of your day. Part of the appeal of this tour is that it is short and convenient, allowing you to fill your time with other plans, whether it be relaxing in town, travelling to a new destination, or taking another tour.

Do not hesitate to book this classic whale-watching adventure in the whale-watching capital of Europe. Check availability by choosing a date.
