Join this tour for an afternoon of easy riding and fun for the whole family. This tour is for any level of rider, and is a wonderful experience for animal lovers, families or groups or anyone who loves the Icelandic countryside. Tours are kept to 20 people or fewer, in order to ensure that all riders get personal attention and all the relaxation they could want.

You'll be picked up in Reykjavik and brought to the spacious Riding Centre just outside the city. The grounds feature a large paddock and barn, along with dogs, cats and bunnies for guests to pet.

To start the tour, you’ll learn about the history of the Icelandic horse, a hardy breed brought to Iceland by the first settlers. Then, you’ll be matched with a horse that suits your experience level and mount up.

The tour will go slowly so that all riders feel comfortable and safe. Your guide will lead you through well-kept trails in the fields around the riding center. You’ll see the craggy lava fields, filled with creeping moss, thorny bushes and rock formations that make a perfect backdrop for a keepsake photo. The beautiful Bláfjöll mountains loom in the distance.

The Icelandic horse is a gentle, friendly breed known for its bushy hair and thick, wiry winter coat. These sturdy animals are built to survive through the Nordic winters. What you may not know by looking at them is that the horse has a silky-smooth gait, known as the tölt.

The tölt is designed for the speed and comfort of the rider crossing long distances, a helpful trick for the Viking who needs to cross a fjord in a single day.

Don't miss your chance to take a relaxing saunter through the countryside on an Icelandic horse. Check availability by choosing a date.
