Join this fabulous evening of Northern Lights from the comfort of the geothermal baths at Laugarvatn Fontana, a favourite retreat in Iceland since 1929. This is the perfect tour choice for those travellers looking to see the Northern Lights, but without having to stand around waiting in the cold Icelandic wilderness.

The Northern lights are as unique and inspiring as Iceland itself: at first, they appear softly, perhaps as undulating streaks of teal, mint green or pure white, or maybe great, leaping bands of violet and magenta splashed across the starry night sky.

Whichever form they take, the lights are truly an unforgettable experience. Other cultures believe they are dancing spirits, reflections of a phantom fire, omens of war, or even the playful bounding of a great Arctic fox, whose fur strikes the sizzling sparks you see as he touches the mountains.

But of course, there is more! Take in this shocking, stirring display from the comfort of the geothermal baths at Laugarvatn Fontana. Laugarvatn Fontana is designed to offer the luxury and convenience of its various steam rooms, mineral baths and Fininsh-style sauna, while never distracting you from the natural beauty of its surrounding environment.

Soothe your spirit and nourish your body! Try goodies from the buffet which celebrates uniquely Icelandic cuisine: a whole meal, or just a taste. Choices can include the soup of the day, trout fished from the nearby lake Laugarvatn, rye bread baked in the hot sands of the lava plains (a traditional method) or homemade cream cakes, along with a wide array of cold and hot beverages to please your palette.

Once you've had your fill of sensory delights at the baths, you'll also be taken on a short tour of the countryside to make sure you didn't miss a single bright light amidst the raw, yet captivating, landscape.

Bask in the wondrous glow of Northern Lights while you relax in steamy luxury at Laugarvatn Fontana. Check availability by choosing a date.

Fantastic tour! Our guide, Kristjan, was so knowledgeable about the country and educated us on everything we visited. The places we stayed were lovely and I really enjoyed staying at local facilities rather than a chain hotel type of place. The glacier walk and ice cave tour were worth every penny. Made lots of new friends and are even talking about doing another tour to the northern side together in the future. I would highly recommend this trip!

A wonderful trip and we did get to see the Northern Lights! Food at Fontana was delicious, although the hot food could have done with being warmer. Would definitely recommend this trip.

A great experience full of smiles, laughs and relaxation but sadly no Northern Lights. We were picked up at the agreed stop and taken to the Bus Station where we got onto a nice minibus and our tour guide was Xavi. Xavi was friendly, funny, helpful and optimistic. We then left for Laugarvatn Fontana and when we got there we were greeted with a feast my partner and I enjoy a plant based diet and there were plenty of tasty options to tuck into. Laugarvatn Fontana has pools with chlorine and one without which was great for me as my eczema doesn't like chlorine and there is also the option to dip into the lake which we fully recommend. After a relaxing couple of hours we made our way to a spot to try and spot the Northern Lights, make sure you wear warm clothes because it can get cold, sadly, we didn't see them but the whole experience was a pleasure. Thank you very much.

This’s the last tour I joined in this vacation. And I have to say I’d made a right choice. It’s a truly great idea to have a hot spring bath before exploring aurora as it relaxed my mind to get ready for a WOW experience. And we’re very lucky to have Albert as our guide. He’s experienced and passionate about hunting Northern Lights. With his help, I was embraced by the starry sky and fluorescent green Northern Lights. The ending of my Icelandic trip was like no other, just perfect!

Great experience with an entertaining tour guide. We ended up getting back to our hotel at 1 am, so be prepared. You only get about 2 1/2 hours at the baths and then they take you out for the northern lights hunt, so be prepared for the cold too. Overall great tour!

Fontana was very nice and relaxing. The food prior to the pool was delicious! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the northern lights, but that was just the luck of the draw in terms of weather.

We had a fabulous time on the tour. Although we didn’t see the Aurora as it was very cloudy all day Stephan our driver went over and above to make the rest of the experience interesting. The spa was amazing. So pleased we did this rather than the overbusy Blue Lagoon. The buffet was great and plenty of choice. All fresh and healthy. The pool experience magical at night and not too busy. For those wary of having to naked shower there was as area with a shower curtain to preserve your modesty! Very worthwhile tour. No complaints at all.

We had a lovely time at Fontana (great alternative to the Blue Lagoon!) and enjoyed chatting with the driver on the way there and back. The buffet at Fontana was delicious, and all of the different baths, steam rooms, and saunas were very nice. Unfortunately we did not see any Northern Lights, but gosh darn it, our guide really tried his best! We drove all over Iceland until about 1:00 AM, but to no avail. I did end up getting very tired and nodding off on the bus. Probably not the best option if you're jet lagged and have just flown in, but perfect if you're up for a late night and the Northern Lights are looking likely (http://en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/aurora/). Also, it was a little difficult to find our pickup at the bus station— you're looking for a bus with the sign "warm bath cool lights." Overall, it was a lovely tour, but I would recommend trying to book this when the forecast is looking promising for the aurora borealis.
