Witness the magic of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula on a day tour that exposes you to the treasure trove of marvels found in Snæfellsjökull National Park—a nature reserve that is sometimes called 'Iceland in Miniature' because of the incredibly diverse number of natural wonders that are found there.

This spectacular area is steeped in legend and history and was the key inspiration of Jules Verne’s 1864 science fiction novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth”.

The Snæfellsnes peninsula is home to white and black sandy beaches, cliffs brimming with nesting seabirds, trout-filled lakes, rivers teeming with salmon, haunting mountains, towering volcanic craters and authentic fishing villages. The peninsula's crown jewel, however, is the 1446 metre high Snæfellsjökull, a white glacier which caps a dormant volcano.

This tour takes you to the best-known natural attraction of Snæfellsnes, but it includes various hidden gems as well. Your first stop is at Hótel Rjúkandi, where you can savour in excellent refreshments and energise for your adventure before heading to the hamlet Arnarstapi.

There you will see one of the most stunning natural harbours in Iceland, abundant birdlife, beautiful stone bridges and the ever-famous Gatklettur rock. Beautiful basalt pillars adorn the whole coastline and by the parking lot stands an enormous stone statue of Bárður Snæfellsás, the guardian of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

Next, you'll visit Hellnar, an ancient fishing village which used to be one of the peninsula's most important fishing stations. There, you will marvel at beautiful rock formations, experience the vibrant birdlife and if you are lucky, you might even spot whales off the coast.

You will stop for lunch at Kaffi Primus before visiting Djúpalónssandur black pebble beach, one of Snæfellsnes' most dramatic places. There, you will find strangely formed lava rocks, an old shipwreck and famous Icelandic strength-measuring stones.

Prepare to be amazed and secure your seat on a tour that introduces you to the wonders of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Check availability by choosing a date.
