Daily itinerary

Day 1 - Heading into the Highlands

On this tour, you'll be staying in a remote mountain hut, the perfect place to watch the Northern Lights.

Your highlands adventure begins when you are picked up at your hotel in Reykjavík in the morning. From Reykjavík, you will pass over the mountain range of Hellisheiði and traverse the wide plains of southern Iceland.

At the foot of the Mt. Hekla volcano, you will head up the road up to the Sigalda hills, passing eerie lava fields, craters, and vast territories in their white winter coats.

Finally, you will arrive in the geothermal area of Landmannalaugar in the Highlands. In the afternoon, you will put on snowshoes (if needed) and go for a hike in this rough and breathtakingly beautiful region.

At the end of a perfect day outdoors, you can enjoy a warm bath in the hot springs river or assist the guide in preparing a delicious barbecue dinner. Make sure you check the skies before you retire, as you might catch a glimpse of the elusive Northern Lights.

Day 2 - Back to Reykjavik

Landmannalaugar region in the Highlands is the world's third largest geothermal area.

Day two of your highlands tour begins with breakfast in the early morning. You will take a last look at the colourful hot springs before starting the journey back across the mountain plateau in the direction of the main road.

The route to Reykjavík will take you past two of the attractions of the Golden Circle route, the waterfall Gullfoss and the geothermal area of Geysir.

You'll be dropped off at your accommodations in Reykjavík and then you are free to discover what this vibrant city has to offer.
