Description

Spend two hours marveling over the Fagradalsfjall volcanic eruption site in Iceland by booking this brilliant tour! Anyone in the country looking to have their breath taken away by the magnificence of the earth's power should not overlook this experience.

Your unforgettable day begins when you are picked up by a friendly, expert guide from a meeting point near your accommodation in Reykjavik. You are guaranteed a group size of twelve or fewer to ensure a personalized experience.

Once you are all gathered, you'll set off in the direction of the recently dormant volcano.

As you travel, you'll be able to see the long-term effects of such eruptions everywhere around you. The Reykjanes Peninsula is covered in fields of twisted lava and is home to many cone-shaped mountains and craters.

Your guide will tell you about the landmarks that you pass, with information on the volcanic and geothermal forces that created them. They can also tell you about living in Iceland and the folklore of the area, which includes tales of witches, ghosts, trolls, and elves.

After driving for about 40 minutes, you'll reach the parking area for the path to Geldingadalur valley, where the Fagradalsfjall volcano is located.

Your guide will lead you on a hike to get as close to the volcano as possible, which crosses rough terrain but is easy enough for most guests. The journey will be more and more spectacular as you approach your destination.

You'll be blown away by the excellent site once you reach Geldingadalur, the valley Fagradalsfjall was erupting in. The new lava fields roll for as far as the eye can see, still far too hot to touch close to the crater. Sometimes, the rocks can still be seen glowing.

Though not currently erupting, this is still a fantastic place to marvel over the awe-inspiring power of Iceland's nature. There are also fewer guests crowding here than there were during the height of the eruption, allowing you to enjoy the barren wilderness in peace.

You'll have plenty of time to explore and take pictures, and your guide can take photos of you and your group.

After a life-changing experience, your guide will lead you back to the van. On the journey back, you'll no doubt still be speechless at the awe-inspiring memories you made.

See the effects of a recently erupted volcano by booking this incredible excursion in Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
