Make your winter visit to Iceland unforgettable by exploring the mysterious Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis. In this four-hour tour, beginning with the pickup at your hotel, you will search for the Northern Lights in a capable Super Jeep, specially modified in Iceland to be able to deal with the tough surroundings in the Highlands and on glaciers.
We know your time is limited in Iceland and we want you to get the most out of your stay. We are locals and have years of experience searching for the Northern Lights. We only go out for the hunt if we think we have a good chance of sightings. Our sightings rate is over 90%.
You will be picked up by your guide on his Super Jeep and whisk away from the city lights to were we predict the best sighting according to cloud forecast.
While we drive out of the city lights your driver will give you informative commentary about the Northern Lights and useful tips about photographing the lights. We choose the best locations available each time. We avoid places were there might be other buses so you can explore the mysterious lights without a disturb from others.
At our first stop we assess conditions and decide to stay or keep looking. We stay on location if most likely for sightings. We may change location later on if we believe it to give better results.

After the complimentary pick up at your hotel in Reykjavík we head out of the city lights.

You will search for the Northern Lights in a big build super jeep, specially modified in Iceland to be able to deal with the tough surroundings in the highland and on glaciers. We have the flexibility to move quickly if the weather conditions change and we need to go to places that would be impassable in a normal vehicle.
On our Super Jeep nothing is impossible. Heavy snow and rough tracks is no problem in our search for the best locations to explore the Northern Lights.
Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the North Pole. In Iceland we can expect to see the Northern Lights from September to mid-April when it's dark enough and we have a clear sky and it wouldn’t hurt to have a bit of luck.

It is almost essential to have a tripod if you want to capture the Northern Lights on your camera. If you do not have a tripod, we can lend you one.
We will do our best to help you set up your camera but we are not familiar with all types of camera we suggest that you get to know your camera and where to make all the necessary settings before the tour because it can be hard to figure out how to in the dark.
If you do not have a camera yourself, don’t worry. We have ours with us and we take excellent photographs of the lights in our tour. We take photo of you under the lights and share them with you the next day. Will send you an email with a link to the photos we took and you are welcome to download them for free.
We bring hot chocolate to warm you up if you get cold while exploring the Northern Lights and of course you are welcome to heat up any time in the Super Jeep.
The Northern Lights Tour is operated every day when the conditions are favorable. We do our best to appraise the situation daily and carefully look at the latest data and weather reports. We only go out for the hunt when we think it is a good chance to see the Northern Lights. We let you know by email no later than 18:00 (06 pm). Our sighting rate is over 90%.
Because this tour is weather dependent and the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon we cannot guarantee sightings. If no lights are seen you can go one more time with us free of charge the next time we go out, subject to availability.
