Daily itinerary

Day 1 - Waterfalls, Beaches and Glaciers

Visit the waterfalls of South Iceland on this Two-Day South Coast Adventure

Early on day one, your guide will pick you up at your accommodation, and your group will depart from Reykjavík. Driving along the South Coast of Iceland is a wonderful experience in itself, with its small fishing villages, beautiful seascapes, rolling fields and wealth of history.

The first stop will be at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s most popular sights. It is possible to walk in a circle around the falling water in clear weather. The next stop is Skógafoss; another falls with a much heavier flow and greater spray.

You will have lunch at a bistro near the charming village of Vík, before walking down a hauntingly beautiful black sand beach called Reynisfjara. Here, you can admire the sea-stacks of Reynisdrangar, and watch the notoriously powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean breaking on the beach (from a safe distance of course).

In the afternoon, the group will head to the Skaftafell Nature Reserve, a hiker's and photographer's paradise. This beautiful oasis is home to glacier tongues, lagoons, waterfalls, lava fields and river systems, and is a joy to explore. You will hike to the 'black waterfall', Svartifoss, a stunning cascade that falls down a dark, columnar cliff.

You will retire at a hotel organised for you for the night.

Day 2 - Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

See the towering icebergs of Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on this Two-Day South Coast Adventure.

After an included breakfast, your group will depart the hotel and drive further east, to the popular and spectacular Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Here, mighty icebergs from Breiðmerkurjökull glacier, break off into a vast, azure lake. While marvelling at such a beautiful site, don't forget to keep an eye out for seals, which call the lagoon home.

You will head to the Diamond Beach during your stay here, which is adjacent to Jökulsárlón. On their way to the ocean, the icebergs sometimes wash up on the shore here where they glisten in the sunlight like precious gemstones.

In the afternoon, you will return to Skaftafell, and go for a glacier walk on one of Vatnajökull glacier's tongues with your certified glacier guide. All technical equipment is provided, and you'll get a quick introduction into glacier hiking before you explore, allowing you to have an adventure that is as safe and educational as it is beautiful and awe-inspiring.

After this excursion, you will take a scenic ride back to Reykjavík city.
