Take a trip to discover the incredible natural wonders on Iceland’s South Coast, and explore an ice cave. This tour is perfect for those who want to take in some of the sights of the south and experience an ice cave, but want to do it on a day trip.

Your day will begin as you depart Reykjavík. You will head south and make your first stop at the Lava Centre. This interactive facility uses technology to give an insight into the volcanic nature of Iceland.

The exhibits at the lava centre take you through the eruptions, earthquakes and geothermal power that have shaped Iceland over millions of years.

You will then travel to the magnificent Skógafoss waterfall. This giant natural wonder cascades 60 metres onto almost flat ground, creating a huge mist. On some days this jewel of the south has been known to produce a double rainbow.

You will then arrive in the quaint seaside town of Vík where you will have free time to eat and check out the natural black sand beach.

Next, the real adventure begins. You will hop aboard a super jeep for an exciting ride through the incredible landscape of southern Iceland towards the glacier area.

You will then be given a safety briefing and fitted with equipment including; a helmet, headlamp and crampons. Then you will take a short hike across the glacier to the ice cave.

Ice caves form naturally throughout the regular melt and freeze cycles of glaciers. Because of the way they are formed, no two ice caves are ever the same. Ice caves are as unique as fingerprints and the imagery inside one is something you will never forget.

The walls of an ice cave can be painted in blues, whites, greys and ashy blacks. The world inside an ice cave can resemble a crystal palace. You will have plenty of time to explore this other-worldly wonder.

You will then head back to Vík where you will have more time to explore this charming town. If you haven’t already taken a stroll to the black sand beach, this is the perfect chance to do so. Make sure you check out the unusual hexagonal basalt columns and the Reynisdrangur rock formations sticking out of the ocean pointing towards the sky.

There are a number of other activities you can participate in from Vík. You can choose to go horseback riding, hiking, take a dip in the local swimming pool or even a zipline or paragliding adventure.

You will then make your way back, stopping at another gorgeous waterfall, Seljalandsfoss.

You will then make your way comfortably back to Reykjavík, taking in the stunning sights of Iceland’s south coast.

Don’t miss the chance to make the most of your time in Iceland with an incredible day of adventure. Choose a date to check availability.
