Jump aboard, and explore the biggest mountains of Iceland outside of the highlands, on the Tröllskagi Peninsula in North Iceland.

This trip starts from Akureyri town. Once you are picked up, your guide will start by driving over the mountain road in Öxnardalur valley, to one of the most amazing sites on the Tröllaskagi Peninsula: Hjaltadalur valley.

Here stands the Hólar Cathedral, a bishop's seat from the medieval times, along with a beautiful turf house, surrounded by amazing nature. From Hólar, you'll be driven to Hofsós village and visit the old Canadian fishing harbour and beautiful houses built during the occupation in the Second World War. There is also a fantastic view to the three islands out on Skagafjörður bay.

From Hofsós, you'll head to Siglufjörður, the herring town. On the way, you will have opportunities for amazing photography in this stunning nature. When you arrive in Siglufjörður, you'll take a good stop for lunch break and to get to know the history here a little better, while enjoying what beautiful natural sites this area has to offer. A ticket to the Herring-Era Museum is included in this tour.

After your time in Siglufjörður it time to get going to Árskógssandur, a small fishing village with an amazing view over Eyjafjörður bay and Hrísey island. There you'll stop for more than just the view; Árskógssandur is the first local microbrewery in Iceland, and home to the lager Kaldi. You will take a moment to enjoy a little presentation from the brewery, and enjoy a cold one if you fancy.

Afterwards, it is time to drive back to Akureyri and have a cosy evening in the shadow of Súlur peak.

Enjoy all the hidden trails the North has to offer. Check the booking availability by choosing a date.

This trip is one of our best day trips during our stay in Iceland. Hlynur took us around Tröllaskagi Peninsula and stopped at several fishing villages/small towns. One of my favorite is Hólar which has the best swimming pool with splendid seaview. We spent plenty of time wandering in the herring museum in Siglufjörður. We also tried beer tasting in a small microbrewery ( I think its called Kaldi ?! ). The beer is no doubt the best I had in Iceland! Hlynur is awesome, and very informative. My friend an I enjoyed our day so much. I think this trip is the only one that go around Tröllaskagi Peninsula. For people like us that don’t drive, this tour is highly recommended.

This is a marvelous trip around north Iceland, you get to see the old profitable harbour, and small but sweet and lonely places, where you can breathe the peace and calm that surrounds Iceland. Is the perfect way to close a trip of contrasting landscapes and weather. Full of history, tipical towns and a guide beyond kind that will answer any question.
