Description

Witness beautiful North Iceland landscapes from above as you fly through the air on a zipline with this two-hour adventure tour near Akureyri. Travelers searching for an exciting new way to see Iceland, crossing rivers and passing through beautiful woodland, should book this tour today.

The excursion begins at the meeting point on the outskirts of Akureyri in North Iceland. You’ll meet your local guides and receive the gear you need. The guides will give you a helmet and harness to attach to each zipline. You’ll also receive a safety briefing and information about the tour.

When you’re ready to go, your guides will lead you on a short walk to the first zipline. The first guide zips ahead to receive each participant, and soon it’ll be your turn. The second guide will strap you to the zipline, and you’ll fly through the air, experiencing a fantastic rush and enjoying the marvelous views below you.

There are five thrilling ziplines on this tour, with short walks through forest paths between each one. The route takes you through woodland areas and across the Glerargil river canyon. It’s a great way to explore the countryside right outside Akureyri.

The route is reasonably easy to walk, and most people find it no problem to travel between the ziplines. However, the path can be uneven in places, and there are some small hills to climb. Therefore, this tour is recommended for people with good physical health.

There are also some requirements you must meet to be allowed to participate. The minimum weight is 65 pounds (about 30 kilograms), meaning the tour isn’t usually suitable for children under eight. There’s also a maximum weight allowance of 260 pounds (roughly 120 kilograms).

It’s recommended that guests dress according to the weather. Warm, waterproof clothing is suggested even in summer, as the weather in Iceland can change very quickly. You should also wear sturdy outdoor shoes, as some paths between the ziplines are uneven and can be slippery when wet.

Beyond these restrictions, this is an enjoyable tour for groups of friends, families, couples, and solo travelers. Ziplining through the forest is a fantastic way to discover the beauty surrounding Akureyri. Even some locals don’t visit this part of the forest, so you’ll love exploring a hidden gem on this exciting tour.

When everyone in your group has completed the ziplining route through the forest, your guides will lead you back to headquarters. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the end of the last zipline. Here, you’ll be able to swap photos with any other guests, and there’s space to eat a packed lunch if you bring one.
