Description

Discover three of Iceland's most popular and beautiful gems of nature, and top off a wonderful day outdoors in true Icelandic style by bathing in the soothing natural hot waters of a luxury geothermal spa.

Your tour starts at Reykjavík Terminal, centrally located at Skógarhlíð 10, 105 Reykjavík. If you have opt-in for a hotel pick up you will be picked up in the morning by a comfortable and environmentally friendly bus, equipped with free Wifi and an audio narrative in 10 languages. In addition, there will be an experienced guide on board to ensure your care and satisfaction.

You will be whisked away to the first stop of the day, Þingvellir National Park. Þingvellir is renowned for its natural beauty and rich history. This is where the Viking settlers decided to have their national assembly or Alþingi in 930 AD. In so doing they took the first major step towards being an independent nation.

Þingvellir is dear to every Icelandic heart, and it's where every major event in the country's history has taken place, the most recent being its declaration of independence on June 17, 1944.

Þingvellir is also highly interesting geologically. Literally standing on the edge of the American continental plate, one can see where the American and Eurasian plates are pulling apart and in so doing have opened up a spectacular rift valley. Because of its uniqueness, Þingvellir was placed on the UNESCO Heritage list in 2004.

From there, you'll come to the picturesque town of Laugarvatn where the luxury Fontana Spa is beautifully located on the shores of a lake where natural hot water flows to the surface.

Bathe in a series of outdoor pools of varying temperature or enjoy a sauna. Soak away your cares and surrender to the beauty and tranquillity of the surrounding landscape. For the more daring, there's the challenge of taking an invigorating dip in the refreshingly cool waters of the lake.

Renewed in mind and body, you'll travel on to see the wonderful sight of the erupting geyser called Strokkur. Every seven minutes or so Strokkur dramatically shoots steam and hot water skywards in a magical waterworks display. Don't worry, there's plenty of opportunities to get that perfect picture!

From there it's a mere short drive to Gullfoss Waterfall, reputed to be one of Iceland's most beautiful. Standing at its edge, you can clearly sense its impressive raw power as the glacial river thunders 32 meters into a steep canyon it has carved out.

This trip is the perfect mix for those seeking to experience all that is unique and wonderful about the Land of Ice and Fire. A full day's tour of Iceland's most scenic gems of nature and a bath in natural hot waters set in exquisite surroundings.
