Join this affordable guided tour and get the essential Icelandic experience by visiting the famous Golden Circle. Walk between two continents at Þingvellir National Park, watch geysers erupt at Geysir geothermal area, and witness icy glacial water cascade down into an ancient canyon at Gullfoss waterfall. Those wanting to immerse themselves in the wild Icelandic nature should not miss out on this opportunity.

Your adventure begins in Reykjavík where you’ll be picked up in the morning and whisked away south to the first stop of the day, Þingvellir National Park. Þingvellir is where the oldest, ongoing parliament in the world, Alþingi, was founded over a thousand years ago. Vikings would assemble there and work out their issues following the laws of the land.

Þingvellir is also where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. The continents are slowly moving apart, visibly causing striking canyons and deep crevasses in the terrain as they tear up the surrounding countryside. Encircling the area is a massive field of black lava that burst forward and hardened in an eruption thousands of years ago.

From the compelling fields of Þingvellir, you’ll move on to your next location of the erupting geysers in Haukadalur valley. Haukadalur is where you’ll find bubbling mud pools, steaming hot springs and Iceland’s most famous water features Geysir and Strokkur. The geyser Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes, reaching heights of around 15-20 metres, giving you a glimpse of the great powers that move underneath the Earth’s crust.

Your final destination of the day before returning to Reykjavík is the stunning waterfall Gullfoss. Freezing glacial water rushes southward from Iceland’s second largest glacier, Langjökull, before plunging down a canyon created at the end of the earth's last Ice Age.

The rumbling sound the water makes as it cascades in two steps down this 32-metre ravine will echo in your ears as droplets of water fly back up after bouncing off the rocks below, sometimes creating a spectacular rainbow over the waterfall itself.
