Your day will begin once you have been picked up from your accommodation in Iceland's charming capital, Reykjavík. In the morning, you will be driven along the country's South Coast, passing the volcano Eyjafjallajökull as well as thundering waterfalls.

Finally, after a relaxing and picturesque journey, you will arrive at your destination for the day; Sólheimajökull glacier.

At the base of the glacier, you will meet your experienced, friendly guide for the day, who will proceed to hand out all of the necessary hiking gear, such as walking poles, crampons and helmets.

They will also give an entertaining and educational briefing on the glacier, its origins and the surrounding landscape. Then, after a brief lesson in ice walking, it's onto the hike itself.

Sólheimajökull glacier is a part of the fourth largest glacier in Iceland, Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which is, approximately, 600 km squared large. Underneath the glacier lies the volcano Katla, one of the biggest volcanoes in Iceland. As you hike across this white and open expanse, you will encounter deep, shady crevasses, sinkholes, intricate ice sculptures and towering frozen cliffs.

After the glacier hike, you will make the return journey back to Reykjavík. On the way back, you will stop and look at the magnificent waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, both of which are famed for their aesthetic beauty and wild popularity. After you have had time to appreciate both features, you will travel the final leg of your journey to be dropped off at your accommodation.
