Admire the gorgeous South Coast of Iceland with this fantastic glacier hiking tour on the majestic Sólheimajökull ice cap! This is a brilliant tour opportunity for travellers looking to both discover the South Coast's many attractions and to add a little adventure to their holiday experience.

To begin your adventure, you will be picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík before being whisked away along the scenic South Coast. En route, you will be making a stop at a true gem of the south, Seljandandsfoss waterfall, one of the most photographed features in Iceland. You can even walk directly behind the cascading water, thus gaining an entirely new perspective of the shore itself.

Upon arriving at Sólheimajökull, you will meet your qualified and experienced glacier hiking guide and proceed to listen as they provide an educational briefing on the ice cap and the surrounding area. They will also present you with all of the necessary safety gear, including crampons (to wear over your hiking boots) and a helmet.

The glacier hike itself is an adventure like no other. With the rapid advent of global climate change, this popular activity is only available in very few parts of the world; thankfully, Iceland is the best place for it! You will see how the primal elements have shaped the glacier, creating mesmerizing labyrinths of ice ridges and deep V-shaped crevasses, crisscrossing and scarring the surface of the ice.

That's not to mention the incredible, panoramic views that await you atop Sólheimajökull's higher elevations; from your observation point, you will be able to look out across the rugged coastlines, lush farmlands and rumbling rivers that define Iceland's incredible South Coast.

On the way back to Reykjavík, you will be making a stop a the magnificent Skógafoss waterfall, the perfect way to round up this exciting day tour. Skógafoss is truly a dramatic feature, where visitors can walk right up to the point where the water hits the rocks below.

Once your time at Skógafoss is over, you will make the return journey to Iceland's charming capital to enjoy the rest of your evening, no doubt still reeling from today's experiences.

So what are you waiting for? Hurry now to join this fantastic South Coast day tour glacier hiking on the mighty Sólheimajökull ice cap. Check availability by choosing a date.

It was an amazing experience to go hiking on a glacier. The hike is for basic hikers, the guide is experienced, and the equipment is in good conditions, you can enjoy the hiking and then watch the marvelous waterfalls in your way back.

Great experience! Nice and friendly staffs (onboard guide and glacier walk guide). We also had time to visit and stop by at 2 famous waterfalls and 1 volcano. The glacier walk was mainly easy, walking on the flat snowy ground, but also had a little bit challenge of climbing up and down the ice parts. The trip that everyone can join!
