See the most extreme sights of the Golden Circle and visit a newly discovered natural ice cave on this exciting super truck tour. Watch an erupting geyser and a cascading waterfall before driving up to Langjökull glacier to enter an authentic ice cave. Those wanting to see the best Iceland has to offer, should not miss this tour.
You'll be picked up in Reykjavík by a large and custom super truck, built to handle the rough drive up a glacier. In the limited daylight of the morning, you'll be driven directly to Gullfoss waterfall for a quick bathroom break, before heading to the glacier for the cave-part of the tour. Make sure to grab some snacks here while you can, or bring them from Reykjavík, because you will not return to civilization for some hours.
Your driver will put the car to the test, driving through the snow and mud tracks that lead you to Europe's second largest glacier; Langjökull. There you will continue on towards Hvítárvatn lagoon, where the cave is located.
From inside the ice cave, you can really see all the colours a glacier can offer. Some of the walls are lined with zebra-like stripes, where you can see the white of packed snow, contrasting against the black of past volcanic eruptions.
In other areas of the ice cave, you can see very pure and clear blue ice. Lights have been placed strategically around the cave to make the experience even better for you and platform have been built for you to walk on. Step carefully - they might be slippery!
After some time in the cave, it is time to drive back to Gullfoss for a sightseeing stop, and another sightseeing stop at Geysir geothermal area. If you are lucky, you will have time to see Strokkur geyser erupt a couple of times before we have to head to Reykjavik again. If time and daylight allow; you will make a quick stop at Þingvellir National Park on the way. This UNESCO world heritage site is one of the few places in the world where the tectonic plates and the rifts between them are visible.
So don't wait! Get the ultimate Icelandic experience with this fantastic day tour. Check availability by choosing a date.
If conditions on the way prove to be too difficult, or if the weather is too bad, we reserve the right to turn back to Gullfoss, without a visit to the cave. We also may need to change the itinerary, based on weather and road conditions. Your safety is our number one priority! Access to the glacier may be difficult at times, leaving little, or no time for other sightseeing.
Please note that this tour may not be suitable for those with claustrophobia or mobility issues.
We operate the cave tour in collaboration with Mountaineers of Iceland, and there may be other people in the cave with us.
