Get your mountaineering boots on and gear up for one of Iceland’s most popular day trips along the South Coast of Iceland―hiking up the incredible Sólheimajökull outlet glacier. This tour is perfect for travellers looking to keep their groups small, as the guide to customer ratio is kept 6:1, ensuring a high level of personal safety and a truly memorable experience.

Your adventure beings with either a morning pickup in Reykjavík or with you making your way to the parking lot by the glacier. The route to Sólheimajökull is a truly awe-inspiring one, and a great opportunity to see the glaciers, ash mountains and volcanoes of South Iceland. Don't forget your camera, as you will probably want to take pictures along your way.

Once you arrive at the base, your guide will take you, step by step, through the process of getting into your gear and run through the tour itinerary and safety protocols. All of the necessary hiking equipment, including hiking boots, hiking gear and rainproof overalls, will be provided to you.

Together, you will begin your hike up the glacier, exploring crevasses, swell holes and fascinating ice formations. There are also marvellous views of the surrounding areas, the Highlands and the South Coast. You will spend approximately three hours on the glacier before making your way back to the parking lot.

On your journey home, your driver will stop at the magnificent Skógafoss waterfall, one of the most famous falls in the country. After having enjoyed this scenic stop, you will be driven back to Reykjavík City, knowing that you just conquered a glacier in the Land of Ice and Fire.

Don't miss your chance to get on board this unforgettable hiking tour on one of Iceland's most beautiful ice caps. Check availability by choosing a date.
