Sensational Iceland | Waterfalls, Glaciers & Northern Lights Tour

Based on 4 traveller reviews

Embark on this adventurous day-tour of sightseeing and glacier hiking, complete with a late night hunt for the Northern Lights. This is a tour for anyone looking to see the most of Iceland’s diverse attractions, all in one winter’s day.

Setting out from a decided location in Reykjavík City, your transportation will take you to the geothermal wonderland Hveragerði, where the atmosphere is mystic, and the air smells of sulphur. You will pass by a geothermal power plant and steaming boreholes, witnessing the might of Iceland’s young and active terrain.

After getting back on the bus, your second stop will be at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, a 60 m high force of nature with its origins in the volcanic glacier of Eyjafjallajökull. The waterfall is an immensely popular attraction, largely due to the rare experience of the option of being able to walk behind it.

After enjoying the mist of the falls, get ready for a glacier hike up Sólheimajökull. Your tour providers will gear you up properly and take you for an hour-long scenic walk up the ice cap. Remember to dress accordingly and be prepared to fill your lungs with fresh glacial air.

After descending from the glacier, you will head on to Reynisfjara, ranked as one of the top 10 most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world. The waves by the black-sand beach are powerful so don’t venture too far, but look out to sea and behold the majestic basalt sea stacks of Reynisdrangar.

Then it’s time to drive the scenic route along the south coast back for dinner, but not before a stoppage at Skógafoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most frequently visited sights, which drops from the cliffs of Iceland's former coastline.

Up next is dinner at a local restaurant, since you must be starving after all these exciting excursions. Your guides will then take a final look at the aurora forecast, and hopefully, you will be graced by witnessing the splendour of the Northern Lights, dancing in their colourful glory in the night sky.

Just remember that the aurora borealis are a natural and celestial phenomenon and can never be unquestionable guaranteed, but every possible measure will be taken to try and locate their appearance.

Experience all of which Iceland has to offer on this tour stock-full of true arctic adventures and natural wonders. Check availability by choosing a date.
